PCC Election 2016 information for candidates and partners

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election takes place on Thursday 5 May 2016 between 07:00 and 22:00.

This website will be updated regularly with additional material, including responses to requests for information from candidates.

Police Area Returning Officer

The Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) is Colette Longbottom, Head of Legal and Democratic Services at Durham County Council. The PARO is responsible for giving notice of the election, managing the election process, as well as the calculation and declaration of the result. PCC candidates must declare their intent to stand for election by 4pm on Thursday 7 April 2016. This declaration must be registered by the PARO, details below:

Candidates' Briefing Pack

Upcoming Meeting:

A briefing meeting for all candidates will be held on 12 April 2016 between 14.00 and 17.00 at Police Headquarters, Aykley Heads, Durham, DH1 5TT.

Election Working Group

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Durham has set up a working group to ensure that effective planning, preparations and support are in place for the pre and post election phases of the 2016 Durham PCC Election. This contains representatives of the OPCC, Durham Constabulary and the PARO. The agenda and minutes of meetings are available below:
