Bumper emergency services weekend to take place in Darlington

Emergency Services event FB
A BUMPER free emergency services weekend involving police, fire and ambulance is being held in Darlington.

The emergency services open days will take place at the town’s fire station and police station from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday (August 12 and 13).

The event will include demonstrations from riot police and Crime Scene Investigation, tours of the custody suite and meet and greets with Durham’s Police Interceptors.

There will also be demonstrations from the fire service and the North East Ambulance Service, as well as funfair rides and stalls.

Darlington Neighbourhood Inspector Chris Knox said: “This is always a fantastic event which gives people an insight into the work of Darlington’s emergency services.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to next weekend’s event and hope everyone has a brilliant day.”

Fire Service District Manager for Darlington Graeme Metcalf said: “This is a great opportunity for people in Darlington to come along and find out more about the role County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service plays in the community and some of the great work that goes on. We hope to see as many people there as possible.”

The event is supported by Ron Hogg, Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for County Durham and Darlington.

He said: “Each year this event proves to be really popular as it gives residents of all ages a real insight into the work of local emergency services teams, the unsung heroes right in the heart of our community.”
