‘PCVC Celebration of Local Superheroes’ free family fun day
FAMILIES can find out more about the work of our real-life superheroes at this free family fun day.
Back for a third year, the event will showcase and raise awareness of all the good work that is happening in our local communities, who go above and beyond to help others in our local area.
Hosted by Ron Hogg, the Durham Police, Crime and Victims' Commissioner, the family event is free, with free parking, and will be held on Saturday 27 October 2018 at Locomotion, The National Railway Museum in Shildon from 10am – 3pm.
The event is autism friendly - no sirens will be used. To help visitors with autism we have prepared an autism walkthrough booklet which can be downloaded here.
In addition to some familiar faces from the Police (and the Interceptors), Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency services and local community and voluntary organisations, the public will have the opportunity to get involved with new activities and demonstrations.
There will be lots of competitions taking place throughout the day, including a children's treasure hunt, plus a Halloween and superhero fancy dress competition (the judging takes place at 12.00pm).
Adults are being encouraged to share their comments, photos and videos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #CelebrateLocalSuperheroes.
Picnic tables are also available if families prefer to bring their food with them.
There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day (either with, or without, fancy dress!) For updates, find us on Facebook (search for Durham PCC), or visit: www.durham-pcc.gov.uk.
