Durham PCC Ron Hogg appoints new Chief of Staff
Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Reiss as the new Chief of Staff in the Office of the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner.
The Durham Police and Crime Panel met on Tuesday 22nd April where they considered and agreed to support the proposed appointment of Mr Reiss. Interviews for the position took place on Monday 7th April 2014.
Mr Reiss, aged 34, will officially take up his new role in the summer, succeeding Mrs Lesley Davies.
Mr Reiss is a Senior Civil Servant currently working as the Deputy Director of Strategy at the Department for Education in Westminster.
Mr Hogg said: "I welcome the appointment of Alan Reiss who has a wealth of experience of operating at a senior level within a challenging environment. I am confident that he will make an excellent Chief of Staff and will fit in well in terms of helping make Durham and Darlington a safer place to live and work.
"I would like to take the opportunity to thank Lesley Davies for her loyal service to my office, to Durham Police Authority before that, to Durham Constabulary and our partners. I wish her well with her retirement".
Discussing his new appointment, Mr Reiss said: "I am thrilled to be accepting this opportunity. I look forward to bringing my family to the North East and to working with the Commissioner, police and partners to deliver the Police and Crime Plan for the community in County Durham and Darlington".
