PCC shows support for Neighbourhood Watch Week
This week has seen National Neighbourhood & Home Watch Week focus on ‘fraud and cybercrime’. This has been supported by the Police and Crime Commissioner and Durham Constabulary with key messages being delivered throughout the week.
PCC Ron Hogg said:
‘While fraudsters may not have an obvious presence on the streets like burglars or bogus callers, neighbours can still help to protect each other from becoming victims of fraud. This week has been a brilliant opportunity to make communities more aware of fraud and cybercrime.
Neighbourhood Watch schemes bring people together and can make a real contribution to tackling and solving local problems, I am pleased to see that more than 1,000 Durham residents have recently signed up as new Neighbourhood Watch members after a recent police recruitment drive as part of the ‘Challenge 1000’ and I would encourage more people to get involved’
