Durham Constabulary to recruit 50 new Police Officers.

Durham Constabulary has announced plans to recruit 50 new Police Officers over the coming months.  Assistant Chief Officer Gary Ridley said, “The Force is looking to recruit around 50 new Police Officers over the coming months in addition to the 60 Police Officers we have recruited so far this year.  We are looking for people from all walks of life who possess good communication skills, common sense and the ability to solve problems.  Durham has below average levels of crime and high levels of satisfaction from both public and victims and it is important that this is maintained going forward through effective recruitment.  The recruitment will commence on Friday 9th October with information available on the Force website.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg said, “This is good news for the people of County Durham and Darlington.  Despite large reductions in Government funding, it is down to good management that Durham Constabulary can continue recruiting officers.  The Force is outstanding at investigating crime and this is down to the quality of all of its officers and staff. I am confident that the recruitment process will continue to attract high quality individuals who want to work with and behalf of local communities.”
