The Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for County Durham and Darlington has written to the Home Secretary to draw attention to the impact that local Government cuts will have on community safety and policing.

He said: “Due to the impact of cuts to local Government funding, Darlington Borough Council has been put in a very difficult position.

"It is important that central Government recognise their role in this, and as such, I have written to the Home Secretary both to draw her attention to the problems and to suggest how the impact of cuts could be mitigated.”
