WHERE:       Stanley Civic Hall, Front St., Stanley, Co. Durham DH9 0NA

WHEN:         10am, Friday 26th February

WITH:           Lord Lieutenant Mrs Sue Snowdon, Cllr Jan Blakey, Police & Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg, Mini Police (primary school pupils) and guests

The Mini Police is launching in Stanley and returning back to its roots.

In 2012, the Mini Police was launched in Catchgate with Catchgate Primary School and expansion soon followed in Durham City.

Following its successful development throughout 2014/15, the launch of the programme in Stanley is a positive step forward. Police engagement in nearby Catchgate has proven successful in reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and increasing confidence in Durham Constabulary.

The main principle of the programme is: “It’s all about Trust”; Building good relationships between Children and the Police.

Through greater engagement, Durham Constabulary are leading the way nationally by engaging with young people at an early age in order to build confidence, reduce future demand and build on greater community cohesion.

The launch in Stanley is endorsed by the following guests who will be available for interview:

  • Lord Lieutenant Mrs Sue Snowdon
  • Councillor Jan Blakey (Chairman of Durham County Council)
  • Ron Hogg, Durham Police and Crime Commissioner

Note: Please ring Nyama Johnson on 07584 581633 or email nyama.johnson@durham-pcc.gov.uk by 4pm today [Thursday] if you are planning to attend on Friday.
