Celebration of Local Superheroes!

PCC Local Heros Poster 2016

Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner event at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon

Saturday October 29, 2016

Find out more about the work of our real-life superheroes at a free, fun, family-friendly event at Locomotion: the National Railway Museum at Shildon.

The Celebration of Local Superheroes event will take place on Saturday October 29 and will be hosted by Ron Hogg, the Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for County Durham and Darlington.

Real-life emergency services superheroes will be at the event – including police officers from Durham & Cleveland Specialist Operations Unit, stars of the ‘Police Interceptors’ TV series.

Look out too for police dogs Jet and Ben; demonstrations from County Durham and Darlington Fire & Rescue Service; and crime scene investigation activities.

Representatives from other community safety organisations who make a difference to people’s everyday lives will also be on hand – including Blood Bikes, and various council services.

There’ll be a children’s treasure hunt, Hallowe’en and Superhero fancy dress competitions, and more!

Ron Hogg said: ‘I hosted a Superheroes event in October last year, and it drew crowds from across the area. I really look forward to seeing so many families enjoying themselves and at the same time learning about the work of the emergency services – our own local superheroes!’

The event will take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday October 29. Parking plus admission to the event and museum are free of charge.

Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is open from 10am to 5pm daily. Parking and admission are free of charge. Please note that there is a charge for steam train rides.
