PCVC Statement on COVID-19

“These are challenging times and we want to reassure the community that we are taking our responsibility to respond to COVID 19 very seriously.  Whilst we are disappointed that the elections in May have been delayed, the communities of County Durham and Darlington will continue to be represented by myself the Acting Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner.  We await the full emergency legislation and what that looks like for our area.”

“In response to the guidance issued on COVID 19, we have tested our emergency arrangements, and all of my team are able to successfully operate remotely away from the main office.  Myself and the team will still be working on your behalf to hold the force to account.”

“You can still contact myself and the team in the usual ways, however at this time we would be grateful if you could you could initially contact us by email on general.enquiries@durham.pcc.pnn.gov.uk however telephone calls will still be answered.”

“I am assured that the Chief Constable is also taking the responsibilities to respond COVID 19 very seriously and we remain in constant dialogue.  Significant planning has taken place and will continue to do so, as this is not a static situation.  The care and protection of our staff is the number one priority, as without doing what we can to protect them, the force are unable to care and protect you, our communities.”

Steve White, Acting Durham Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner
