The Office of the Durham Police, Crime and Victims' Commissioner (ODPCVC) is keen to hear from people in the local community who want to make a real difference.
The ODPCVC is looking to recruit an Independent Chair of the External Strategic Scrutiny Governance Group.
The group ensures that scrutiny reflects local communities and interests across County Durham and Darlington, in turn influencing local needs and benefits from differences in thinking, points of view and approaches.
A significant focus of the group is to work with Durham Constabulary to ensure the effectiveness of the various tactical scrutiny groups and provide guidance to the organisation for learning.
The group will be responsible for reviewing plans from each of the scrutiny groups and the corresponding action by the Constabulary, then collate the action logs to provide an integrated approach between the groups so key learnings can be identified.
As the Chair you will be expected to lead the group, challenge issues and report findings so that the wider public can have confidence in Durham Constabulary through helping to influence the decisions that the Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner makes.
The Chair will be responsible for arranging the meeting at a time suitable for all members, maintain a schedule of outcomes for the group, record significant recommendations and coordinate the group annual report that will be presented to the PCVC/Constabulary Executive Board.
The group also enhances the opportunity for feedback to the panels and will recommend topics for consideration by the independent Scrutiny Panels.
The group will consist of at least 8 members who will be independent of Durham Constabulary and meet a minimum of 4 times a year.
If you’re interested in applying please email General.EnquiriesPCVC@durham.pnn.police.uk
ODPCVC will pay reasonable travel expenses. You must be committed to the post for an initial period of two years, this will be subject to review in April 2023 and then on an annual basis.
Closing date for applications is Friday 12th February 2021
