Thousands of visitors turned out for an action-packed annual Emergency Services Day to enjoy free children’s rides and to meet their local bluelight heroes.
The Stanley Emergency Services Day brought a day-long programme of entertainment, demonstrations and family attractions under sizzling summer temperatures.
Held at Millennium Green Field in Craghead, the popular event was organised by the Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team and funded by local organisations including £1,000 from County Durham and Darlington Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen.
Children enjoyed free fairground rides including crazy golf, bungee trampolining, soft play, a 40ft wipeout course and a bouncy castle while also being able to meet the emergency services personnel dedicated to keeping them safe.
Throughout the day, members of the PCC’s team spoke with visitors about a range of policing, crime and justice matters, answering questions and providing information. They also invited people to discuss the issues that matter most to them and share their priorities for local policing.
Other organisations attending included County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, Durham County Council’s Street Wardens, St John’s Ambulance, The British Horse Society, Show Racism the Red Card plus a host of service providers who work with the PCC to build stronger communities including Groundwork North East and Cumbria.
Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen said: “This event is far more than a great day out. It brings people together, strengthens community spirit and creates a lasting sense of belonging. At a time when isolation can affect many, it builds connections, inspires pride and leaves a positive impact long after the day itself.
“I am proud to support an event that showcases the very best of our community. Its success is testament to the dedication of the Stanley Neighbourhood Policing Team, whose hard work and commitment continue to make it bigger and better each year.
“I would also like to thank the businesses, organisations and community partners whose support makes this event possible. By working together, they help create stronger, safer and more resilient communities and their contribution is greatly appreciated.”
