The Domestic Abuse Panel works with the PCC and Durham Constabulary to Improve performance in the investigation of domestic abuse cases.
The Durham Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) established the Domestic Abuse Scrutiny Panel (the Panel) in 2017. The Panel comprises members from across County Durham and Darlington with knowledge, experience and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on victims.

The panel scrutinises a sample of domestic abuse cases in detail, draws conclusions about the effectiveness of the police response and makes recommendations for improvement.

The panel also looks at recent developments in policy and research, findings and recommendations from other relevant reports as well as feedback from victims on what constitutes a thorough and effective police response to domestic abuse.
